| Mission |
| To challenge high school football and women’s soccer student-athletes
to inspire teammates, classmates and community members to better the communities
in which they live using leadership skills and abilities. |

The Seattle Seahawks and Qwest offer the Qwest
Leadership Challenge™ as leadership development program for high school
football, and varsity women soccer athletes. The program promotes and inspires
involvement in charitable causes and rewards community service. How the Program Works
Each Washington high school football team and varsity women’s soccer
team may select one student-athlete from its varsity squad, within the following
guidelines:
- Head coach submits application
by letter or via our online nomination
form
- Applications are due by midnight PT June 15,
2006.
- Student-athlete completes community endeavor that includes 40 volunteer
hours of combined service to a non-profit or school-related cause.
- Student submits affidavit of completion signed by his/her coach after
completing community service.
- Student must complete the online project summary. URL to be provided
by the Seahawks to all program participants.
Upon Completion of the Program |
- Student may request a $500 donation provided by Qwest to the non-profit
or school cause that his/her group assisted by emailing Kevin
Griffin.
- Students will each be awarded two (2) tickets to the Seattle Seahawks
game at which all Qwest Leadership Challenge™ students will be
honored during a halftime ceremony.
- Student-athletes will be invited to a private leadership conference
the morning of the game hosted by the Seattle Seahawks.
- Four (4) student-athletes will be awarded a $5,000 college scholarship
in recognition of their achievement.
- Scholarship selection will be made by board of Qwest and Seahawks
members.
- Selection criteria include the board’s evaluation of project
impact, community need, individual commitment and leadership demonstrated.
